Mexico City 2
One of the most interesting and shocking things I saw in the city was an outdoor photography exhibit featuring the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City. October 2005 was the 20 year anniversary, and the photos were both sad and compelling. Although I couldn’t understand all of the stories that went with the photos, much if it was related to the substandard building that was allowed to go on in previous years, causing many of the buildings to collapse.
A few hours later we met our driver back in front of the government palaces, and since we still had plenty of time before our flight he brought us to the Zona Rosa, a hip trendy pedestrian street off Reforma. The Zone Rosa is about two miles from the centro Zocolo, with nice restaurants, shops, and boutique hotels. We walked around and explored some shops and bars, and ended up having an early dinner at a nice outdoor café. We saw many well dressed guys and girls.
One restaurant that looked like a cool diner to go to was Vips, but maybe next time.
