Watercourse Foods and Wild Oats

Boy I sure do like Watercourse Foods.   Despite not being a hippie or vegetarian I feel right at home in this bright cheery 17th Avenue restaurant.  I haven’t sat down for a meal here since my first visit last fall.  On Wednesday we returned and tried some new plates, including the Portobello Cap: a grilled portobello mushroom cap with chipotle aioli grilled carrots and rice, and the Dona Lee – a warm pita stuffed with seitan, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and ranch dressing.  (descriptions abridged from their menu.)

If you can’t get there right this second then make plans to meet up with friends and grab snacks and coffee at the large bar.

In other neighborhood food news the Capitol Hill Wild Oats was having a mini-parking lot party last night with grilling and music! (pictured right)  Here’s their complete schedule of foodie events.    I may have to attend local cheese expert Zoe’s seminar on “the mystery of cheese.”   Also when looking online a “Wild Oats” search brought me to the “Whole Foods” site.  I thought that merger never happened, but it seems I was wrong.
