My Dinner Guest
A few years back I visited Alaska, and with my old camera took a shot of this bald eagle perched up on a tree near the Turnagain Arm en route to Seward. He was quite the aloof one staring down at me from on high. He was ignoring my as he had his eye on a shrew and about to take flight.
Imagine my surprise when he showed up at my door last night frustrated and stressed out after a long flight from the last frontier. He explained to me that while surfing the web at the Girdwood Kinkos he had seen the Obama photos on my blog along with some of my activism work, and thought I might make an appropriate conduit to voice his message.
He wants us to know that Colorado is a swing state, and the margin between us voting red versus blue is extremely slim. This bald eagle would also like you to know that tomorrow, October 4th, is the last day to register to vote. If you haven’t done so already please get your ass in gear and make sure you’re paperwork is in order. (His words.) Being a member of the “wildlife community” in a state governed by Mrs. Palin you can guess who will get his vote.
We chatted about other issues such as the global warming, prime nesting areas in the Kenai Peninsula, and the how to poop on camera clad tourists while flying over cruise ships. However as the night moved on the conversation became stagnant. I yawned, stretched, and awkwardly said “well, I guess I better hit the hay.” Being the perceptive one he is he took the hint and I called him a cab.
So don’t forget to register to vote, and then go vote.

He almost doesn’t look real up there on the tree.
