Next weekend one half of the Future Gringo staff, (myself,) will be traveling to the Big Apple for an extended weekend. When I travel solo I rarely go to fancy or upscale restaurants - instead I prefer cafes, coffee shops, supermarkets, and food stands. Not only do I save money, but time as well – which is even more valuable if only visiting for four days.
Yesterdays’s Gridskipper lists eight cheap eats locations, most of which are in the Lower East Side. Scanning them I think my pick would be “Prosperity Dumpling” in Chinatown
One place however I do plan to indulge myself, in both time and food, is the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria. I’ve heard some good things about this place from friends, and looking forward to it.
