Ghetto Tree Update 09
I’m very happy to report that my favorite little tree is still thriving and will soon be shading this dirt median with foliage and green.
I’ve walked by this tree near the 7-Eleven at Colfax and York countless times, and it’s been a few months shy of three years that I’ve been documenting its seasonal activity.
No it’s not dead – in fact check out these older posts to see how lovely it blossoms in the spring. I’m very much looking forward to seeing some leaves again this year. This may be the city’s most hideous and sickly looking twig, but I love this ugly duckling.

I can understand your interest in the welfare of your ghetto tree. We have a lot of people and organizations planting trees here in DC, but not all of them get the follow up care they need. And in hot, hot, DC summers many of them die of thirst.

If this little stick starts growing cherries I’ll transplant it to my own backyard, “pot” and all – or send it your way and you could give it a persona Cherry Blossom fest!
I should have written you a comment but your safari pictures from earlier this year are amazing. I’ve (enviously) looked through Abercrombie & Kent’s catalogues on occasion. If I did a package with them it would no doubt be their Antarctica tour – but the Africa experience looks very well coordinated.
Incredible photos – and love the hippos splashing about
Cheers and hope all’s well!
