This midnight break at the Melrose and Fairfax Yum Yum Donuts was a real treat.

We were en route to meet some friends at a club and stopped in for a coffee. We ended up with two apple fritters and a bag of variety sprinkled donut holes for the morning.

All that, and a quiet refuge to chill out for a spell at the bright yellow tables, watching the outside activity of a weekend night in West Hollywood.

This Los Angeles based chain has been around since 1971, with 64 stores in California. I’m not sure if they’re all open 24 hours, but it’s a perfect snack place for the wee hours of the night.

Probably healthier than Denny’s too.
