Shells and Sauce in Brief

I visited Shells and Sauce for brunch last Sunday. True to today’s Denver Post article the streets in my neighborhood were and still are ridiculously icy. But I made it the entire .3 miles from my house without slipping. I can’t say the same for our dog.

I was a bit dissappointed because the espresso machine was out of service. I’ve popped in Shells a few times just for an espresso shot, but this time settled for four cups of coffee instead. I really should have started in the $3 Mimosa specials but it was a tad early.

I ordered the chicken dumpling soup and a side of cottage cheese – which was more than enough for a light breakfast.  Caleb had the spinach and three cheese omelet, and Caleb’s mom had the soup and French toast. The specials board hadn’t been updated from the night before and we all thought the soup listed on the board, (which I don’t recall,) would have been better than the chicken. But we didn’t complain as the chicken soup was decent.

One nice thing I noticed: I appreciate using a small white ceramic creamer pourer rather than picking apart the little plastic disposables. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference.

Overall I give a B+ this time.
