Hofbrauhaus . Munich
Although its the center of touristy Bavarian kitch, no stay in Munich is complete without a night at the Hofbrauhaus – Munich’s most famous beer hall. We initially didn’t plan to visit, but stumbled across the large white building and its wrought iron fixtures while wandering the quiet alleys surrounding Marienplatz.
The long tables are very condusive for striking up a conversation with fellow travelers or locals. In our case we met two young couples from Hamburg, spending a few days in Munich for a weekend getaway.
The most impressive sight to see was not the enormous pretzals or giant steins of beer, but rather watching the petite waitresses CARRY these heavy steins to the table, usually three to five in each hand. By the wait of mine I would guess its 25 to 30 pounds a piece – which must keep them so energetic and good looking.
