Really Old DIA News
I was out at the airport late last night and finally saw a chance to see the late Luis Jimenez’s new Mustang sculpture at night. (He was killed in ’06 when the torso fell on him in studio.)
I’ve passed by this sculpture a few times by daylight, but at 30 feet tall with beady shiny red eyes this certainly makes an impression at night. Yikes.

In less seizure inducing (old) news, this snazzy new tourist office opened this spring, and greets arrivals opposite the big fountain in the main terminal. Clean lines, good lighting, and more helpful and welcoming than a brochure rack. I was there at 11:30pm and they were still open! Even better it doesn’t frighten children.

The title of my blog suggests I won’t be riding it regularly when it opens in 2014. But that’s a long way off…
Were you wondering what’s new at Watercourse Foods? I’ll be visiting this week with my gluton-free, non wheat or dairy eating mom. She’s never been to Watercourse or City O’ City and I’m looking forward to surprising her!
I was at DIA Monday and was really tempted to pull over to take some pics of that mustang, but we were running late. Next time! It’s really frightful.
Yeah I remember seeing a small dirt access driveway last time off Pena, and was going to try and arrive just before 9 and get some pictures in the low sun.
But my Mom didn’t arrive til 11, and I didn’t feel like getting lectured by the cops for loitering.
Next time for us both.
I hate it. If it wasn’t blue with red glowing eyes it might be less ugly. Luis’s son finished the project. I cant help but think he intentionally sabotaged it. The glowing red eyes weren’t in the original plans and the color was supposed to be more natural.
