Voting Day
I arrived in line at 6:15am this morning expecting a queue around the block at my voting location – the Denver Botanic Gardens. More people than I thought must have voted in advance because I was the second person in line. They opened at 7am and I was out the door by 7:20.
The voting room at the Botanic Gardens is in a hall near the large domed tropical atrium, so by the time I left it was already getting steamy inside and the windows and doors were open. If you want a taste of voting in Florida this is the precinct to be in.
I didn’t expect paper ballots, but perhaps this is for the best considering the local 2006 issues.
*edit to add: If you’ve voted today head over to Starbucks for a free coffee, and free ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s…
**10:50 edit to add: Apparently rewarding people to vote is illegal – hence Starbucks will give ANYONE a tall cup of coffee who requests it. So if you’ve already voted, are here undocumented, or are too apathetic to care – here’s a free coffee for you.

I voted Friday and they were all out of paper ballots for my precinct and many others. Which is great, considering that in other elections I’ve been voter No. 25 at 2 in the afternoon.
I voted by touch-screen machine instead.
I never got around to sending in my mail in application – and with a busy work week didn’t make it to early voting.
But all in all this wasn’t a bad morning! We’ll see what transpires tonight…
All’s well that ends well — and it did end well.
