Chili at Sams #3
We biked downtown to the gym, and while inside a tornado formed somewhere in the metro area for the seventh day in a row. (I don’t believe that’s an exaggeration.) Downtown was getting pelted by heavy rain, and nothing sounded better than a late afternoon chili fix at Sams #3. We grabbed the 16th Street Mallride down to Curtis Street. I supposed due to the rain the bus was more chaotic than usual.
I had the Kicken’ Green Pork, and Caleb had the Original Red. There’s also a Veggie Green, all of which are offered in pint, quart, and gallon size for take home. (In addition to the normal bowl and cup.) A shared baked potato and coffee made it a perfect afternoon meal.
The waitress brought out a burrito to the couple seated behind us, who assured her they had in fact ordered waffles. I’m stumped at how those two items could possibly get mixed up, but having been served by this waitress before I’m positive it wasn’t her fault.
Of course the rain stopped 25 minutes later and it was sunny. Here’s a photo of Sam’s funky exterior on this blog, (halfway down.) Menu at Samsno3.com .

I think the couple behind up were foreigners. They could read the menu fine but didn’t seem to know what what items actually were.
You forgot to mention half beef half pork chili.
I cant wait to go back and spend a longer time there, it’s a great location for people watching.
