I've been to Lovely once, and the cup cakes are good. One turn off is that everything at Lovely is served on disposable plates / cutlery / cups, which I personally hate. It is just so much nicer to eat off of a real plate using real silverware and drink my cap from a real cup.

As far as general atmosphere goes, I prefer the "Shoppe" across the street. They specialize in cup cakes, cereal (think Lucky Charms) and design (as in books, mags and art). It fits in well with the Colfax funky art aesthetic. Whereas Lovely, well, fits in (and would do well) in a upscale suburban setting.

While I prefer the Shoppe, it is a shame that these two great cupcake places are literally across the street from one another.

James, you should checkout both and get back to us.
