Copper Mountain Smart Idea

This is a brilliant idea I noticed at Copper Mountain. Their major ski lifts now have a trail map, (in between some ads,) attached to the pull down bar.

I know the trail layouts of my most visited Colorado mountains, but many times in the past I’ve been riding a lift and trying to read or open a cumbersome folded trail map as it whips and rips in the wind – while also balancing my ski poles and removed gloves praying one doesn’t fall into the deep double black moguled abyss below.

Now you can study your runs and trails with ease and arrange meet up spots with family and friends.

I haven’t been skiing too much this year so not sure how new this idea is, or if any other resorts have implemented it – but I like it.

Another idea spurred by a beautiful three day weekend at Copper is the “iChute” – an attachment for your iPhone which senses speed after you drop it from the lift, then pops open a little parachute so it floats safetly to the ground. Anyone want to draw up some sketches?

  1. Great idea, so simply I can’t believe I haven’t seen that before. Makes life easier than fumbling around with maps and freezing your fingers off even more.
